Fall golf is in full swing at Oakridge!

Autumn Golf
Has Truly Arrived

Keep your golf clubs handy.  We have had some beautiful days already this Fall with more still to come.  Many trees are just starting to change colour.  Autumn colours, blue skies and green fairways: nothing is prettier and the show is just getting underway.  We hope you will come to Oakridge to enjoy some golf, the friendship of others and Mother Nature in full splendor.  Fall Rates are here.  You are welcome to book a tee time anytime in advance.
Elsewhere in this newsletter you can read about our local Leaf Rule.  Although that might imply leaves anywhere, I would like to give credit where credit is due.  In this case, it's to Oakridge's own Superintendent, Warren Moffatt, and his team.  I am always amazed at how clear of leaves the course is despite being surrounded by beautiful forests.  While the local rule is here for your use, I'd say there's a better than even chance you won't have the opportunity to apply the rule... unless you
really want to!
While a leaf here or there is on the mind, I'll just take this one opportunity to say Go Leafs!
From all of us, see you soon!

The Local Leaf Rule
Now in Effect

The Leaf Rule allows a free drop for a golf ball
lost in leaves.
The Leaf Rule applies to in-bounds areas
of the golf course only.
Search for only 1 minute.
If the ball is not found beneath the leaves,
you are permitted a free drop in the general area
with no penalty to be incurred.
Remember, above all else, enjoy your game!

So you think
you're tough...
"What exactly are the TUFF tournaments and why are they in November?"  It's a question I've been asked frequently.  Firstly, the TUFF tournaments are 18 hole team scramble events hosted by Oakridge Golf Club every year.  They take place the first weekend in November.  The first on Saturday and second on Sunday.  Why are they in November?  Because we're Canadian!  Because golf has to last as long as it can.
Golf's not over until we say so.
The TUFF tournaments are, as engraved on the trophy, "A true test of Canadian golf mettle." The determination of Canadian golfers to make golf last is unwavering.  And thanks to golfers like you we've created a day that defies golf logic.  It is a celebration and the toughest test of golf Oakridge can offer.  Once a season the pins are the most difficult we can place.  A golfer who knows us well quipped, "You and Warren (our Superintendent) must've slept like babies last night knowing the nightmares we would have after playing today."
And then we both broke into a ruckus of laughter as only golfers can.  "I have to putt them too" was my only submission.  Oh and am I glad I had the chance to steady over a 5 footer with 24 inches of break.
As Canadians.  As golfers.  We play in the Tuff no matter the weather.  We get charged up for the chance to fire at a pin blocked by the tree, tucked behind the bunker and on the crest of the fault line.  We all have a few things in common.  We're golfers.
We're Canadians...and we're tough.
